Why Global Citizenship

In 2015, all 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly agreed to do everything they can to achieve 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, by 2030. These goals aim to end extreme poverty, protect our planet, and ensure that no one is left behind. Younger generations are key to these efforts. We can only succeed if young people are empowered global citizens, who are well-informed about social issues, and who are equipped to take action within their communities and the wider world.

Why Gender Equality (SDG5)
Why Good Health and Well-Being (SDG3)

While all of the Global Goals are so important, Novelly focuses on these two goals, because of the stigma and harmful social norms that underpin many issues related to gender, health and well-being, including, but not limited to, violence against women and girls, HIV/AIDS, mental health, female genital mutilation, substance abuse, and access to sexual and reproductive health services. The YA genre has always been unafraid to tackle and humanize these topics, which can potentially build empathy and shift social norms among young people.
